City begins budget work

The Center City Council faced some hard facts last week as it began preparing the 2014 budget for the community.
Noting the city’s 47 mill levy is at its maximum allowed for the general fund, City Auditor Becky Vosberg told council members they would need to reduce the proposed budget by $100,000 or increase revenues a like amount. That’s because there currently are projected revenues of $578,850 and projected expenditures of $662,962.
