CSHS football coaches hand in resignations

Head football coach Scott Jung and assistant coach Michael Bergstrom submitted letters of resignation as coaches to the Center-Stanton Public School Board during its Nov. 17 meeting. The board accepted their resignations with some reluctance.

Jung has been a teacher at the Center-Stanton High School for three years and coached since 2006. Bergstrom has also taught and coached for three years. Their resignations as football coaches do not affect their teaching positions.

Charles Woock, math instructor and junior high football coach at Center-Stanton, has indicated he is interested in moving into a varsity job, but he asked that the board not accept both resignations. Board president Rick Schmidt said that he hopes to hire at least one of the coaches back for next season.

Elementary teacher Pamela Lyson also submitted her resignation effective at the end of the school year. She is exercising her early retirement option. The board agreed to accept Lyson’s resignation.

Shelby Savage, Center-Stanton sophomore, and her mother Sandy appeared to ask the board for financial support for a trip to Europe that Shelby Savage would like to take next summer as a "People to People Student Ambassador."
