Farms face problems from ‘waste’ to soil quality

Farmers confront an infinite parade of problems as they strive to make a living from the land. Sometimes these problems can be overwhelming. Sometimes all that’s needed is a strategy to work toward management of those problems.

At the Oliver Soil Conservation District’s 2010 Field Demonstration and Cover Crop Tour the end of September presented strategies for grappling with two problems facing farmers – waste disposal and soil quality. Along with the Oliver Soil Conservation District, the tour was sponsored by the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the North Dakota State University Extension Service, the Oliver County Farmers Union and Security First Bank.
