Fast-moving storm leaves path of destruction in its wake

The severe thunderstorm warning issued by the National Weather Service late Monday afternoon quickly became a tornado warning, with high winds and pelting rain wreaking havoc in Center and a large portion of Oliver County. Trees were uprooted, tree trunks snapped in half and branches littered the ground in the storm’s wake; rainfall of 2.8 inches was reported. Residents in Center and parts of the county were without electricity for several hours while crews worked to debris from transmission lines and restore power.
