FFA Range Judging team takes sixth

It was a 5 a.m. start, an early Saturday morning for the Center-Stanton School FFA range judging team. But the early hours were worth the trip as the team placed sixth out of 12 competing teams, receiving silver at the state contest. The team also earned several individual awards.

The state FFA Range Judging contest was held in Carrington Sept. 20. The contest consisted of deciding the type and condition of a site, whether or not to increase or decrease the stocking rate and identifying different range plants. It also consisted of selecting correct management practices for livestock and wildlife.

In the individual contest there were 60 participants statewide. Center range judging team individual places are as follows:

Kirby Kraft, silver and 18th place; Aaron Young, silver and 19th place; Shae Brown, silver and 21st place; Randy Bittner, silver and 24th place; and Jacob Kraft, bronze and 35th place.

In the open range judging division, Jayden Mosbrucker placed 10th high individual.
