Late start date not welcome at CSPS

Controversy was brewing long before Initiated Ballot Measure 9, also referred to as the “Start after Labor Day Measure,” qualified for the November ballot. If approved, the measure would amend section 15.1-06-03 of the North Dakota Century Code to require school classes to begin after Labor Day.
During the Oct. 8 regular Center –Stanton School Board meeting, Center -Stanton Public Schools Superintendent Curt Pierce prepared two possible calendars for the 2015-2016 school year for the board’s review, as examples of how the academic year might be scheduled if the measure passes.
