Need for cooperation voiced by city, county

The first item on the July 7 Oliver County Commission meeting agenda was an appearance by newly elected City of Center Mayor Harold Wilkens, who formally greeted the commissioners and conveyed his belief the two local governments need work cooperatively when both entities are involved.
“Hopefully, the city and county commission can work together smoothly and efficiently,” Wilkens said.
County Commission Chair Lee Husfloen agreed with Wilkens in his response.
“I’m sure we’ll be able to work with the city,” Husfloen said. “There are a few joint ventures where the county and city work together and we need to [do so].”
As is common during the spring and summer, county road topics monopolized the bulk of the commission meeting.
