Quilt project: A kaleidoscopic of caring

In 2005, a couple of women from St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Center decided to use old polyester material and old polyester clothes to make quilts. Kathy Jacobs and Arly Haag got the idea that the quilts they created could be donated to the God’s Child Project. They worked in Arly’s garage with the help of Arly’s sister, Joey Erhardt.

Soon the word spread, and many people donated old clothes and material. The women were overwhelmed with what they had accumulated and asked for help from their church and community. Eventually a group called the Community Quilters came together with the mission of assembling quilts to be donated to worthy causes each year. In 2007, the group set up operations in St. Martin’s basement.
