Road washout catches driver off guard

Oliver County Sheriff David Hilliard reported that on March 23 a pickup truck driven by Cody Bargmann of rural Oliver County struck a washout about 11 miles northwest of Hannover on a secondary road.

Oliver County Deputy Sheriff Kelly Keller, who investigated the accident, said the driver required treatment but wasn’t injured seriously. However, the accident is still under investigation.

Hilliard said that he had driven in that area the day before and saw no flooding, but because of flooding in numerous areas of the county, his department had announced on the radio that all secondary roads in the county were closed to all except local travel.
