Votes tallied in city & school board elections

With a total of 51 ballots cast in last week’s special election, Center residents have approved adoption of a home rule charter, 37 for and 14 against. The results were officially accepted by the canvassing board, which met Monday, June 15.
A total of 89 ballots were cast in the Center-Stanton Public School District election, with Cassandra DuMond and Scott Jaeger voted into the two open seats. DuMond received 77 votes for the Stanton seat; there were no write-in candidates.
There was no official candidate for the Center seat. Scott Jaeger received 45 write-in votes. The 20 additional write-in votes were split between 11 people, with no other write-in candidate receiving more than five percent of the total votes.
The Center Republican and Hazen Star were chosen as the official publications for school board minutes, with 87 votes for and two votes against.
Results of the school district election were officially accepted at the school board meeting Thursday, June 11.
