Winter has been tough on Oliver County roads

Winter has been tough on Oliver County’s rural roads. County Road Superintendent Bruce Nelson reported to Oliver County Commissioners at their meeting April 7 that the winter with its vast amount of snow is now causing damage as it thaws. He produced photos of a pickup truck that hit a washout injuring the driver and getting the vehicle hung up in the washout March 22. The washout was about 11 miles northwest of Hannover.

Mindful of the flooding conditions that day, Nelson drove out to inspect some of the county’s approximately 450 miles of organized secondary roads.

"There were about 30 trouble spots where water had gone over the road or there was some kind of damage," Nelson said.
