Fall in District 10 finals

The Center-Stanton Wildcats entered the District 10 tournament with a perfect record in District 10 play. The Wildcats were hoping to add two more District 10 wins in Wilton last week but only got one, falling to Turtle Lake-Mercer (TL-M) in the District 10 championship game.
The Wildcats didn’t have a great start in their championship battle with Turtle Lake-Mercer. The first set appeared to be getting away when Wildcats’ head coach Janet Erhardt called a timeout after her team fell behind 10-4.
The Wildcats closed Turtle Lake-Mercer’s lead to two points, 11-9, after a small run. The run was capped by two consecutive aces by Tristen Henke and a kill by Abbie Hintz.
Turtle Lake-Mercer responded strongly to the run and went on a 5-0 run, making their lead 16-10. But once again, when TL-M looked like they were in control of the match, the Wildcats found a way to battle back into the set and tied up the game, 20-20, after two consecutive kills by Tristen Henke.
Winning the set late was too tough of a task for the Wildcats though. The Wildcats led 23-21 after a Madeline Henke push and a Turtle Lake-Mercer blocking error.
