The Center-Stanton Wildcats moved to 2-2 on the season with a seventh place performance at the New Salem Invite last week. New Salem dropped games to Underwood and Mott-Regent at the tournament, but topped New Salem-Almont in their final game.

The first game of the tournament put Center-Stanton against Underwood, a Region 5 foe. The game didn't count for a region game but gave both squads an early season look at each other.

The game was a defensive struggle with both teams struggling to score and, late in the game, Underwood did just enough to win by three points, 31-28. The leading-scorers for Center-Stanton were Tori Wahlman and Ashley Frank. Both players combined for 12 points.

Underwood got a 12-point effort from Mackenzie Snyder to win the game.

The next game of the tournament was another tough draw. Center-Stanton faced Region 7 foe Mott-Regent. Mott-Regent ended the first half with a 38-26 lead and maintained their lead in the third quarter.
