Hamons headed to state
By Jarann Johnson
Ethan Hammons found himself in Bowman last week at the Class B Region 4 Individual duals trying to earn a state tournament berth. Hammons did exactly that, helping New Salem-Almont take third at the dual. He took fourth overall in the 126 weight class.
Hammons had a very exciting tournament, he went in as the No. 4-Seed in the region. Hammons opened the tournament strongly with a quick pin. Hammons pinned Brandon Younker (Killdeer) in 28 seconds.
Hammons’ road to the region championship got tougher in the semifinals. Hammons faced off against three-time state champion Kyle Burwick (Hettinger-Scranton). Hammons was pinned in 2 minutes and 57 seconds, moving him to the consolation side.
