Henke helps West win series
The Optimist Volleyball Series puts the best volleyball players from Western North Dakota against Eastern North Dakota. Players must be seniors to be selected for the game.
The series started with the West losing the first match of the series in five games in Fargo. The next day the West won in dominating fashion, taking all four sets of the match in Bismarck.
Center-Stanton 2017 graduate Madeline Henke played a different role than she did in high school. The senior setter was primarily used as a back row defensive specialist and did a great job of serving during the tournament.
Henke said at the Optimist, players were more specialized in their roles. Overall, Henke said she was happy with the experience and atmosphere of the all-star tournament.
“It’s been so much fun. I came in here a little nervous about Class A vs. Class B and getting to know each other. But all the girls have been so nice and so cooperative. Everyone just wants to play volleyball,” Henke added. “I had a lot of fun here and I definitely promote the Optimist Volleyball game.”
