In Brown do the Wildcats trust

The Center-Stanton boys’ basketball team has faced many different opponents, offensive schemes, defensive styles, size advantages and size disadvantages this season. Mother Nature has only added to the unpredictability for the C-S hoopsters.

But through whatever comes the Wildcats’ way, they have been able to count on one thing: Shae Brown.

The junior guard is averaging 20 points a game for the 7-5 Wildcats this season but his impact on the team doesn’t end with his ability to put the ball in the hoop. Brown not only creates scoring opportunities for himself but also has been a key in the balanced attack C-S has been using to take down some of their Region 5 foes.

"This team’s been playing together for a while and we’ve learned how to create opportunities to score based on the other guys," Brown said humbly turning the attention to his teammates. "Tyler (Price) has been playing pretty well. Andrew (Anderson) is having a good year and Jacob (Henke) has been handling the ball well. Main thing is teamwork."

Center-Stanton 58, Washburn 44

Last Saturday it was the Washburn Cardinals traveling to Wildcat territory for another Region 5 encounter. The last time these two teams met, C-S left the Washburn gym with a 56-42 topper on Jan. 8 and the first quarter of Saturday’s contest quickly gave the Cardinals flashbacks as the Wildcats opened with seven unanswered points
