‘Cats can’t top Shiloh

By Jarann Johnson
The Center-Stanton Wildcats entered the week right where they wanted to be on Monday. They earned the top seed in the District 10 tournament and had the top team from District 9 on their home court for a non-district game.
The Wildcats faced Shiloh Christian in a possible Region 5 tournament game preview. Shiloh won the match in four tightly contested sets by making late comebacks; 25-23, 20-25, 25-22 and 25-21.
The first set favored Shiloh 15-9 midway through the first set until a serving error seemed to awaken the Wildcats. The Wildcats were forced to take a timeout because of an illegal substitution for the libero that involved serving.
The serving issue resulted in Tori Wahlman having to serve instead of Rachel Vitek. Oddly, the whole ordeal ended in an ace for the Wildcats that sparked a 9-3 run that tied the game at 18-18.
