Wildcats bball starts NSA tournament

By Jarann Johnson

Center-Stanton had a very big test to start the New Salem-Almont Tournament Monday night. Center-Stanton faced Grace Benz and Kidder County. Benz is considered one of the top players in the state by many.
Benz, a senior, led Kidder County to a 52-29 win with 18 points Monday night.
Center-Stanton head coach Drew Erhardt set some pre-game goals for Benz. “ We set a goal to keep her under 20,” Erhardt said. “Just communicate where she is at all times.”
Center-Stanton did what their coach wanted, holding Benz to 18 points. But they struggled to defend Kidder Count’s 3-point shooters at times. Kidder County made five 3-pointers during the contest. Erhardt said most of Kidder’s 3s came off kick out passes and his team struggled to recover after Benz kicked it out to teammates.
