Wildcats compete in Hazen meet

By Jarann Johnson
Last week the Center-Stanton Wildcats headed to Hazen hoping to qualify athletes for the state track and field meet. They didn’t come away with a state-qualifier but they did have an event winner.
Macauley Haag had a strong meet at Hazen. Haag, a senior jumper, who is chasing state-qualifying in the triple jump came closer to meeting the state-qualifying mark. Haag won the triple jump with a leap of 40 feet and 9.25 inches.
Haag’s jump was 8.75 inches short of state-qualifying. State-qualifying in the event is 41 feet and 6 inches. Center-Stanton placed in a few other events. Dawson Boherer took fifth in the 400 (58.64 seconds). Ben Thompson placed in two events – third in high jump (5-06) and seventh in triple jump (34-10).
