Wildcats FB falls on road

The Center-Stanton Wildcats knew picking up a road win against Central McLean was going to be tough. After one quarter of play it was clear the two football programs were at different points.
Central McLean led 28-0 after one quarter of play. The second was also a tough quarter for Center-Stanton football fans.
Central McLean scored 20 points, making their lead 48-0 before the halftime horn. Despite being down big, Center-Stanton got one big passing play during the game. Junior wideout Macauley Haag caught a 44-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback James Henke.
Senior power back Matt Huber ran in the two point conversion, which made the score 48-8. The second half featured a running clock, and Central McLean scored one touchdown in the third quarter.
Center-Stanton’s lone touchdown of the second half was a 26-yard Matt Huber run. Huber ran in his second two-point conversion on the point after attempt, which made the final score 56-16.
Afterward, Head Coach George Duenas recapped the game, focusing on areas of improvement.
“Our tackling has to get better, and up front we need to get better. That’s what we preached all week and it was exposed Friday night,” Duenas said. “They are really good. Good teams expose weaknesses. They magnified our weaknesses.”
