Wildcats FB trying to break through

The Center-Stanton Wildcats have been improving each week of the season and trying to get a win. Last week the Wildcats hosted Napoleon/Gackle Streeter and fell 42-14.
The loss featured two big Center-Stanton offensive plays. Senior running back Matt Huber ran in a 60-yard touchdown and junior quarterback James Henke threw a 70-yard pass to senior wide out Karson Backer.
Even though the final score was lopsided, Center-Stanton Head Coach George Duenas said his team improved. Duenas credited the defense with one of their best showings of the year.
“Overall we played better defense. They had some big plays on us but we made stops. Guys were beating blocks, keeping contain, and tackling. They came after them,” Duenas said.
One area the Wildcats didn’t improve in was red zone scoring. The Wildcats went on a 6-minute drive and came up with zero points, which is where Duenas thinks the game turned. Duenas is hoping his team can fix their season long red zone woes this week against South Border.
The Wildcats will travel to Wishek for their game with South Border, who is 3-1 overall on the season. Duenas said South Border is a small team but very physical, and coming off a win against Central McLean.
