Wildcats finish regular season
By Jarann Johnson
The Center-Stanton Wildcats entered the last week of the regular season hoping to fine-tune themselves. The Wildcats faced Shiloh, a Region 5 foe, away from home and Parshall, a non-district or regional foe, at home.
The Wildcats fell 3-1 to Shiloh but rebounded Friday night with a 3-0 in over Parshall. The first set of the match against Parshall was closer than most thought it would be.
Parshall entered the game with a 7-10 record. Even though Parshall entered with a discouraging record they played hard but eventually fell 25-20.
In the second set it looked like Parshall was going to strongly challenge Center-Stanton for another tough. The set was tied four times (5-5, 7-7, 9-9, 10-10) before Center-Stanton pulled away.
Parshall was doing a great job of keeping the set close and trailed 17-14 when Center-Stanton stared a 9-1 run to claim the game. The 9-1 run was started on a kill by junior Tori Wahlman.
The final score of the set was 25-15. When the third set started Center-Stanton was pushing for the sweep but again Parshall proved tough early in the set.
The set was tied three times (3-3, 5-5, 7-7). After the 7-7 tie Center-Stanton went on a 14-2 run which was capped on two consecutive aces by junior setter Madeline Henke.
At the end of Center-Stanton’s monster run the Wildcats led 21-10. Center-Stanton didn’t let Parshall gain any momentum and ended the set, winning 25-12.
