By Jarann Johnson
The Center-Stanton Wildcats went to the Class B State tournament in Fargo hoping to make some noise but couldn’t grab a win against the state’s best teams, going 0-3 at the Fargodome.
The Wildcats had some strong spots in each game and junior middle Abby Hintz was recognized as an all-state all-tournament selection for her play during the state tournament.Opening round
The Center-Stanton Wildcats knew they were going into their opening match as the underdogs. The role of underdogs was nothing new for the Wildcats, but facing the No. 2-ranked team in the state and 2015 state runners-up meant it would be the toughest game of the year.
The Wildcats came out strong and surged to a 3-0 lead after an ace by senior setter Madeline Henke. The Wildcats hot start wouldn’t be enough to put Langdon away, and the set moved to a 4-4 tie. Callie Ronningen, freshman middle, came alive for Langdon to get her team in the lead with consecutive aces.
