Wildcats get defensive to advance to semifinals Thursday at U of Mary

All those sayings about defense are cliché because they’re true; most good fortune in basketball stems from defensive intensity.

The Center-Stanton Wildcat boys put this theory into practice. After a sluggish start, the Wildcats turned on the defensive intensity to eventually scrap out a 75-69 victory over the Wilton-Wing Miners Monday evening in the first round of the Region 5 Boys’ Basketball Tournament at the Bismarck Civic Center.

The Miners came out of the gates to bury the Wildcats. Spurred by six quick points from W-W senior post Austin Dusek, the Miners wouldrace to a 12-2 lead before four minutes had elapsed in the game.
