Wildcats get second win
By Jarann Johnson
The Center-Stanton boysbasketball team needed a break. They were coming off two straight losses and at home when they played Richardton-Taylor on Dec. 17. The Wildcats got that break in a close 53-51 win, moving their record to 2-3 on the season.
After the first quarter the Wildcats trailed by two points, 16-14. In the second quarter they failed to decrease Richardton-Taylor’s lead and trailed 29-25 at halftime.
The Wildcats earned the lead in the third quarter with a strong 17-9 run. The big run gave them a four point lead 42-38. The Wildcats got a late-game boost in the fourth from Lane Erhardt, senior starting point guard, to win the game.
Erhardt made three consecutive 3-pointers late in the game. His last 3-pointer came with the Wildcats down one point and careened into the hoop off the backboard. Richardton-Taylor got the ball to their leading scorer Lane Voltz – 16 points in the game – on their next possession. But the senior missed the shot and the Wildcats rebounded with 1:50 left in the game.
