Wildcats getting stronger
The Wildcats took advantage of last week, getting two meets in before weather started making a turn for the worse today. The Wildcats went to the Bison-Miner invite in Hazen early in the week and ended their week at the Southern McLean Track Meet in Washburn on Friday.
The girls had two placers and took 16th overall. Madeline Henke, freshman, scored the most points at the meet for the girls. Henke was seventh in the high jump, clearing 4 feet and 3 inches. She added another place in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 19.74 seconds – good enough for sixth place.
The only other girl to place at the Bison-Miner invite was Katie Windhorst, sophomore. The sophomore jumper added an eighth place finish in the triple jump (28-01).
On the boys’ side Lane Erhardt, senior, continued to show promise. The first year track and field athlete cleared 5-10 in the high jump for second place. The state qualifying mark in the high jump is 6-2. He added an eighth place finish in the triple jump (36-07), grabbing all nine team points for the Miners.
Southern McLean Track Meet
Erhardt kept up his high output on Friday at the Wildcats’ last meet of the week. Erhardt put up 18 points in four different events and once again scored all of the Wildcats’ team points.
His highest finish of the day was a third place showing in the triple jump (36-1.75), slightly better than he did in the first meet of the week at Hazen. Erhardt actually placed in all of the jumping events – taking seventh in the long jump (18-0.75) and fourth in the high jump (5-10).
