Wildcats start season
By Jarann Johnson
The boys basketball season is underway. It was supposed to start last Tuesday against Standing Rock, but Mother Nature put temperatures well below zero and made roads unfavorable for travel. The game was canceled and rescheduled to Jan. 25.
Basketball fans didn’t have to wait long for the Wildcat season to open though – less than 48 hours actually. On Thursday the Wildcats opened the season with a game against New England. Last year New England took second at the McLean County Shoot Out and finished the regular season with an 11-12 record. So the Wildcats knew they were in for a good challenge to start the season.
Early on the Wildcats struggled to score and trailed by 10 points at the end of the first period. The Wildcats only managed to create four points in the first quarter and found themselves down 14-4. The Wildcats played better in the second period offensively but still found themselves down at halftime, 27-14.
