The Wildcats went on the road last Friday for the start of district play. Both teams traveled to Garrison for a doubleheader of boys and girls basketball action. The boys team loss 47-39 and the girls team loss 53-33.
The Wildcats led for most of the game in the boys game and held a 31-27 lead after the end of the third quarter but lost it in the fourth quarter and loss the game. The Wildcats gave up the 20 points in the final quarter and couldn’t get going on offense.
The Wildcats only scored eight points in the final frame and their struggles on the defensive end allowed Garrison to take advantage and win their second district game of the season. The leading scorer in the game for the Wildcats was Danny Henke, a senior forward with 15 points.
Boys head coach Jaime Entzi felt like his team’s intentional fouls and lack of success on free throws were the difference.
“We had two intentional fouls in the fourth quarter and then we got a technical foul. That kind of upped their point numbers. We got it inside and missed our free throws. They made their free throws,” Entzi said.
