Wildcats VB Update

BY Jarann Johnson
The Center-Stanton Wildcats knew that their late season showdown with Flasher was going to be important. The Wildcats played hard but couldn’t overcome Flasher last week, losing 3-0: 25-19, 25-29 and 25-19.
None of the Wildcats’ attackers reached double-figures for kills. Flasher had one attacker who cleared the 10-kill mark.
The Wildcats couldn’t shut down Flasher’s senior middle Jenny Campbell. Campbell recorded 11 kills and 4 blocks to lead her team to the win.
One highlight from the game for the Wildcats was Morgan Vitek’s performance. Vitek, a sophomore outside, recorded 22 digs to lead her team defensively.
The disappointing news for Center-Stanton volleyball fans is that the loss put the Wildcats in a tougher seed for the region tournament. The Wildcats’ loss makes a three-way tie for first place with Center-Stanton, Flasher, and Shiloh Christian.
