Wildcats win road game, prepare for region opener

By Jarann Johnson
The Center-Stanton Wildcats picked up a road sweep over Beulah last week, winning 3-0: 25-17, 25-17, 25-17.
Center-Stanton didn’t face any trouble with Beulah. Abby Hintz led the team in kills with 9. Hintz was also tied for the lead in team digs with 10. Karsyn Haag and Ashley Frank also recorded 10 digs during the game.
Center-Stanton will prepare for a tougher task this week when they host Shiloh in a Region 5 contest Thursday. The two teams matched up earlier this year with Center-Stanton topping Shiloh 2-1 at the Coal Country Tournament.
The early season match was close. Center-Stanton won the first set 25-22 but lost the second set 20-25. The third and final set went to Center-Stanton 15-5.
If Center-Stanton wants to top Shiloh again they will have to be cognizant of Shiloh’s strong serving skills and pay special attention when Shiloh setter Josey Greiss is at the serving line. Another key for Center-Stanton will be making sure to hit over Graycin Wanzek.
