WWCS falls in standings

By Jarann Johnson

The Washburn/Wilton/Center-Stanton (WWCS) baseball team entered Saturday’s home doubleheader with Beulah hoping to pick up a game in the standings. WWCS didn’t get their hope, losing the Region 8 counter game 7-1.
Beulah didn’t waste any time getting on the scoreboard. Leadoff hitter Aaron Vallejo, a junior, reached base on a single and stole second during No. 2-hitter Dawson Bieber’s at-bat.
Bieber, a sophomore, made sure to push Vallejo across, hitting a 1-run double for Beulah’s first score of the game. Next up was No. 3-hitter Mikey Morris, a junior.
Morris hit a 1-run single, giving Beulah an early 2-0 lead. WWCS starting pitcher Braydee Hanson was in trouble. Hanson’s shakey start got worst during the next at-bat when he hit a Beulah batter.
Beulah had base runners on first and second with no outs. A passed ball moved both Beulah base runners to second and third with no outs.
