The Underwood Lady Comets were in a must-win situation in Garrison on Monday night. The win would allow the Comets to compete in the Region 5 tournament in Mandan next week. The Cossacks started the game with the tip and a three-pointer. The Comets nabbed several offensive boards but were unable to get the ball to fall through the hoop. The five points the Comets did score in the first quarter all came from free throws. The Comets finally got their first basket of the night in the second quarter when freshman Anne Hefta saw fellow freshman Taylor Dammann open under the basket. Dammann was able to finish the play for two and the Comets cut the deficit to 11. Again the Comets continued to get some offensive rebounds but the putbacks didn’t fall. The Comets headed to the locker room at the half down 32-13.
