Cottingham confident going into districts

The Underwood Comets head into this week’s District 10 tournament as the number two seed and will be taking on Center-Stanton at about 5:30 Thursday night in Turtle Lake, aiming for the district title and a spot in the upcoming Region 5 girls’ tournament. If previous results against Center-Stanton are an indicator of what is to come in the first round, the Comets should find themselves easily advancing to the winner’s semifinal round, as they pummeled the Wildcats 63-33 just a couple weeks ago in regular-season action. The Comet girls wrapped up the regular season this past week with a record of 11-8, suffering a 58-50 loss to Region 5 foe New Salem-Almont after knocking off Sawyer and Flasher earlier in the week. Comet coach Toni Cottingham is looking forward to this week’s tournament, going in with a confident feeling.
