Trapper Jacobs poured in 35 points for the Trojans but Cardinals’ Tate Bertoloto scored the last bucket of the game. With 5.9 seconds on the clock, he scored to give the Cardinals the win, 66-64, in region play on Monday night.
Gunner Jacobs got the Trojans on the scoreboard first with a triple from the left corner just seconds into the game. From there the teams traded buckets and the Cardinals took a 13-12 lead after a bucket and free throw from Bertoloto at the 2:42.
Then, Trapper Jacobs scored three two-pointers and Gunner added a free throw to put the Trojans up 19-13. A bucket and free throw from Karter Hansen cut the Trojans’ lead to 19-16 at the end of one.
Second-quarter action saw Gunner and Matthew Leidholm trade triples to start the quarter. Cardinals then made a 6-2 burst to take a 25-24 lead at the 4:15 mark.
