New leaders revitalize jam sessions
By Daniel Arens
Over the last few years, there have been questions about whether Hazen’s monthly jam sessions would continue into the future. Smaller attendance at some of the sessions, as well as the decision by Ron Crowley to step down from the leadership role after 2018, made these questions grow.
However, for many performers and local residents, the jam sessions have filled a special and significant role in the community for 18 years. As a result, one family decided to take up the charge, keeping the sessions going and leading the event into the future.
The Ost family have been longtime performers in and supporters of the jam session. Gilbert Ost has been performing throughout the jam sessions’ history, and that enthusiasm passed on to his children as well.
