Restoring a house, reclaiming a home
By Daniel Arens
Ten months after a vicious storm left them homeless, a Stanton family now have a house of their own again.
With the coming of the spring, Josh and Kayla Cotton are eager to tackle the outdoor chores. Currently, the family is working on getting fencing up for their cattle, before turning their attention to replacing numerous trees that act as a shelter to their property.
For them, this spring isn’t just about getting the cows in the field and trimming the shrubs in the yard, but also restoring fences, trees and barns that were lost.
In the midst of the remaining beams and boards representing the old life on the farm, the new house stands out.
“It’s largely finished,” Kayla said. “It’s a pretty similar one for us as what was there before.”
