Almost there, 1 left

By Jarann Johnson

Last week the quarterfinals were played and now only four teams are left; Milnor-North Sargent, Linton, Des Lacs-Burlington and Hazen.

This will be the third straight trip to the state semifinals for Hazen. But what is there to know about all off the other teams. Milnor-North Sargent (8-2) reached the semifinals with wins over Lakota-Edmore-Dakota Prairie and North Prairie (8-3). Northern Prairie was the fourth best team in the last Class A state poll. Lakota was 5-4 and the fourth and final seed from Region 2. Linton (8-2) entered the playoffs as the fourth seed from Region 1 and upset Larimore – the No. 2-ranked team in the state poll, then they beat Oaks (7-3) in the semifinals. So, the Linton Lions have been road warriors, going on the road and winning each week in the playoffs. Now Linton and Milnor-North Sargent will meet in the semifinals. The teams played once this year in Linton and Milnor won 20-14. Now the teams will see if the Sept. 27 game was a fluke or the same result holds true.
