Astros get 20th win

By Jarann Johnson

Early in the Legion season the Hazen Astros traveled to Stanley an earned an easy sweep. This time around Stanley refused to be swept, winning the second game 3-1 despite Hazen having a great chance to tie or win the game.
Mason Wiedrich started at pitcher for the Hazen Astros in the all-important region counter and helped  lead his team to a 9-0 home win over Stanley. Wiedrich pitched seven innings and didn’t walk any batters during the game.
Hazen’s offense got off to a productive start in the bottom frame of the first game. Connor Doll drew a leadoff walk and followed his patient batting with superb base stealing. Doll stole second and third base, but his chance at producing a run didn’t look great.
Doll was on third with two outs when Cody Lewis made a great snag at third base. Lewis made a diving grab on Nate Leintz’s hit that blasted near the third base foul line, but his recovery after stopping the ball took too much time and Doll scored on the play giving Hazen a 1-0 lead.
