B-H ends season strong

The goal at a state tournament is to perform at a high level and hope that it’s enough to grab a state championship during the 3-day tournament. B-H wrestled at a high level, placing sixth in the duals and fifth in the individual side, but didn’t come away with a state champion.
Thursday night the individual tournament started with wrestlers trying to earn their way into the semifinals. B-H had a pretty strong first night, pushing four wrestlers into the semifinal round.
Jeremy Leintz was strong at 106, picking up a 10-6 win in the first round over Coy Awender (Oakes) then grabbing a 5-minute and 29-second pin over Region 4 rival Alex Madrigal (Bowman) in the quarterfinals.
Justice Roundy (182) also had a smooth day during the opening day of the state tournament. Roundy picked up an 22-5 tech fall in the first round over Brandon Steffen (Larimore) and grabbed a close 4-3 win over Jordan Will (Bishop Ryan) in the quarterfinals.
Alex Barbion (195) had the most interesting day for B-H. Barbion was seeded eighth, meaning if he got to the quarterfinals a tough match against the state’s No. 1 seed would determine if he would advance to the semifinals.
