B-H runs against top teams
By Jarann Johnson
When coaches schedule a key race with tough competition they hope for three things: a healthy team, decent weather and a lot of personal records. Head coach Mary Hoherz received all of those at the Mandan Kiwanis meet last Saturday.
The only thing that Hoherz and the Beulah-Hazen cross-country team missed was their No.1 runners. Calvin Aichele couldn’t compete for the boys because the race was scheduled during a college admissions test and Kaylene Klein was missing because of a wedding commitment.
Not having their leading runners will probably hurt the squad’s chances of gaining ground in the state polls but, overall, it was a good day for B-H. The varsity boys finished 11th out of 12 teams in the meet, which was mixed between schools from Class A and B.
The boys’ team took fourth in the meet against the Class B schools. The boys were fourth out of five Class B teams, getting topped by New Town, Medina and Bowman County.
