The Beulah-Hazen (B-H) cross-country team headed to Jamestown last week for the “Originals” Invite. The Originals Invite course will be the same course for the Class B state meet in October.
The B-H boys used the course to start their season strongly, taking 17th out of 41 teams (529). The meet was mixed with Class A and Class B schools.
Out of Class B schools, B-H was third overall. New Town was first, winning the race with a team score of 62 points, and Hillsboro-Central Valley was 11th overall with a team score of 374.
B-H was led by two of their younger runners. Isak Olson, a sophomore, took 75th overall out of 210 runners with a time of 18 minutes and 49 seconds. Olson’s pace for the five-kilometer race 6:03 per mile.
Dayton Fiddler, a freshman, took 79th overall (18:53) and ran the course at 6:04 mile pace.
The upper classmen closed out the team score. Josten Hafner, a senior, took 117th with a time of 19:44, and Jacob Weigel, a junior, followed eight seconds behind (19:52) for 125th place. Logan Miller, a junior, closed out the score, taking 133rd six seconds after Weigel (19:58).
