Beulah and Hazen meet in Babe Ruth
By Jarann Johnson
The Beulah Twisters have been really tough to beat and are the reigning Babe Ruth champs. Last week Hazen tried to knock off the defending champs, but came up two runs shy in Beulah.
Derek Ferebee started at pitcher for the Twisters and looked strong, facing the minimum and striking out two batters. The bottom of the first also went Beulah’s way against Hazen starting pitcher Jace Zuern.
Mason Dolbec earned a leadoff walk to start the bottom frame and Dain Sardelli hit a single, putting two runners on with no outs. Hazen didn’t let the strong start hurt though, and turned a double-play during Ferebee’s at bat.
The double-play turned into a triple-play when Sardelli was caught off the first-base bag. After one inning, both pitchers had faced the minimum – for one pitcher it was conventional and for the other it was a bit tougher.
Ferebee kept pitching well in the top of the second for Beulah with two more strikeouts while only facing the minimum. Beulah didn’t let another strong leadoff bat go to waste in the bottom frame.
