Beulah-Hazen takes second in Bowman
By Jarann Johnson
The Beulah-Hazen wrestling team headed to Bowman last week for a small tournament that only featured eight teams. Even though it wasn’t a big tourney Beulah-Hazen still got in some quality early season action.
Beulah-Hazen took second as a team and had five wrestlers compete for championships. Three Beulah-Hazen wrestlers came away with champion honors.
Jeremy Leintz, a senior, continued to show why he is one of the best lightweights in the state. Leintz won all three of his matches in dominant fashion.
Leintz showed his offensive prowess in his first match of the tournament, scoring 19 points and forcing a tech fall over Cade Warbis (Hettinger-Scranton). Brenden Kerzmann (New Town) was next up to face Leintz and didn’t do much better. Leintz pinned Kerzmann in 29 seconds.
