Beulah-Hazen wrestling places two at state
Beulah-Hazen wrestling fans entered the state tournament excited because they had three seeded wrestlers. Two of those wrestlers left the Fargodome last weekend with state-placing honors. Tyler Erickson took fifth (160) and Kaden Sago (220) took seventh.
Erickson, a senior, won his first match of the tournament quickly. Erickson topped Ethan Myers (MonDak) in 51 seconds with a pin.
Erickson’s next match was a tougher draw against Triston Sott (Pembina County North), the No. 5 seed. Erickson won the match 7-2, which pushed him into the semifinal round. Now, Erickson was back in the same spot he found himself as a junior.
Erickson semifinal matchup was with Nathan Weigel (Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter). Weigel, the No. 1-seed in the tournament made sure Erickson wouldn’t get an upset win, topping Erickson 8-5.
