Beulah-Hazen wrestling qualifies 7 for state
By Jarannn Johnson
Last week Beulah-Hazen headed to Bowman for the Class B Region 4 individual wrestling tournament. Their goals was simple – qualify as many wrestlers as possible for the Class B state individual meet. Beulah-Hazen did just that state-qualifying seven wrestlers.
Adin Jungers (106), eighth-grader, made it through the bracket with a third-place showing. Jungers earned a first-round bye to open the tournament, which automatically sent him to the semifinals. During the semifinals, Jungers was pinned by Cody Irwin (New Salem-Almont) in 3 minutes.
Jungers’ loss didn’t end his state tournament hopes. Jungers kept those hopes alive by winning his next match. Jungers topped Cade Martin (Bowman County) 12-1. Now, Jungers’ focus was on winning the third-place match. Jungers emphatically claimed third place with a 19-second pin over Tel Sorenson (Watford City).
