Beulah-Hazen XC finishes season at state

By Jarann Johnson

Beulah-Hazen set the goal of reaching the top 10 for both teams and trying to sneak in three all-state runners. They fell just short of their goals at the Class B state meet, which was hosted by Jamestown last week.
Beulah-Hazen's girls finished 9th out of 46 teams and the boys were 11th out of 47 teams at the meet. Ian Busche, a Beulah-Hazen freshman, was the team's only all-state finisher.
Busche finished 16th out of 291 total runners at the race in a time of 17 minutes and 16.49 seconds. Busche's time was a personal best on the season for a 5K (3.1-mile course), which is a pace of 5:34 per mile.
Beulah-Hazen's other boys all-state hopeful was senior Isak Olson. Olson didn't get the top 20 all-state finish he wanted, finishing 32nd overall (18:03.4). The last all-state boy's spot was claimed by Southern McLean senior Coltan Hyttinen in 17:22.4, which is a pace of 5:36 per mile.
