Bison open season at Shiloh Invite

By Jarann Johnson

Baseball season is here. No amount of wind, water or snow could keep it away. Well, at least none of those elements could do enough damage to delay or cancel Shiloh Christian’s two-day invite last weekend. The Hazen Bison played three games at the invite, going 1-2.
Their first game was a 4-3 win over Enderlin-Maple Valley and their second game a 9-7 loss to top-ranked Grafton 9-7. The Bison’s last game was just as close as the other but saw them lose 2-1 to Minot Ryan.
The Bison started off the game batting and made Tanner Saunders, junior starting pitcher, earn all three of his outs for Minot Ryan. Saunders threw 20 pitches in the inning and surrendered one walk but, even though his arm got worked, he didn’t let a score in.
Mason Wiedrich had a tougher first inning pitching for the Bison. The first batter that Wiedrich faced, Nick Berentson, made solid contact with the ball but got caught trying to stretch a single into a double for Wiedrich’s first out of the game.
