Bison scores 40 plus again
By Jarann Johnson
The Hazen Bison haven’t been taking it easy on opponents this year. In their latest offensive explosion they scored 48 points and collected another win. The Bison beat New Salem 48-15 on Friday, moving their record to 4-0.
Connor Doll ran for a 49-yard touchdown run; then Dominick Opp followed with a bigger play.
Opp’s big play was a 70-yard touchdown run making the score 13-0. There were no more scores in the first quarter but the big play trend continued in the second quarter.
The second quarter started with Doll scoring on a 41-yard run. Doll followed with a two-point conversion pass to Hunter Steffan making the score 21-0. Nate Leintz got in on the big plays next with an 85-yard touchdown pass from Doll and 61-yard touchdown run. After Leintz’s scores it was clear that the Bison starters would be heading to the bench early once again.
The Bison were up 35-0 in the third quarter after Leintz’s score but New Salem still had a small, small chance of a comeback. New Salem would only need five touchdowns in a short time, it was highly unlikely but still possible.
