Bison show off speed

By Jarann Johnson

The Hazen Bison opened their season with a strong showing at home, winning by 31 points. Even though the Bison dominated the last three quarters they faced an early challenge in the first.
The first quarter of the season didn’t go well or badly for the Bison, it fell somewhere in between both measures. The Bison and Our Redeemer’s battled back and forth for most of the first period.
Early on, Hazen grabbed a 6-5 lead after an offensive put back by freshman guard Raquel Doll. Doll wasn’t done making big plays in her first varsity game of the season.
The second-year varsity player hit a 3-pointer with two minutes left in the first to break a 10-all tie. Up 13-10 it looked like the Bison were closing in on increasing their lead but Our Redeemer’s kept pace with the frantic Bison and regained the lead.
After a Karlee Zabbtney bucket, Our Redeemer’s led 14-13. Senior Hazen guard and defensive stalwart Dakota Wood split a pair of free throws retying the game 14-14.
