Bison undefeated in region play

By Jarann Johnson

The Bison have it going on right now. Everything is on and the team continues to look strong as the season progresses. Last week they swept Washburn on the road and swept Hettinger at home to remain perfect in Region 8 play this year.
The Bisons’ first game of the week was a road game against Washburn-Wilton-Center-Stanton, the team they beat for a state tournament berth during last summer’s American Legion season. The winner of that game was Kolby Metzger.
Metzger started in the first rematch between the teams on Tuesday last week, but the result was the same. WWCS fell—but this time they fell big. Metzger didn’t have to pitch a gem to win this one, because the Bison were producing plenty of run support from the start.
After the first inning the Bison led 4-0. It looked like starting pitcher Ryan Mlekoday was doing better in the second inning. He got his first two outs, but walked Chase Bruner. After walking Bruner, things unraveled.
